In contrast to what has been reported to be the budget of OMG 2, the maker reveals that it is wildly overstated, and Akshay Kumar has not even charged a single thing for the picture.
Despite garnering fantastic reviews from various sectors, OMG 2’s box office profits have been unable to reach the customary Rs. 100 crore mark. Furthermore, there have been rumors that the film went over budget due to Akshay Kumar’s hefty expenses. However, the COO of Viacom 18, Ajit Andhare, said that Akshay never collected any compensation for his involvement in the film.
For those unfamiliar, Akshay Kumar appears in a long cameo as Lord Shiva’s messenger, and the actor’s new appearance has also gotten a lot of praise from his admirers. Clarifying claims that the film was done on a large budget due to Kumar’s additional compensation.
In an interview, Ajit Andhare stated, “The reports of the budget of OMG 2 are grossly exaggerated.” On the contrary, Akshay did not ask for a fee and, in fact, marched alongside us in both the financial and creative risks associated with such a brave picture. There have been various claims that the film went over budget due to Akshay Kumar’s hefty fees. However, the COO of producers Viacom 18, Ajit Andhare, said that Akshay never collected any compensation for his involvement in the film.”
Furthermore, in the same article, Ajit revealed how their prior collaborations have always gone smoothly, and he expressed gratitude to the actor for his thorough engagement in the film in every aspect. He stated “As a studio, we have a long history and understanding with him dating back to OMG, Special 26, and Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, I’ve been completely on board with him in accepting screenplays that are unorthodox but speak for something greater and more profound.” According to these rumors, the film’s budget of Rs. 50 crores was not surpassed; however, there is no evidence of this.
Speaking of OMG 2, the film is directed by Amit Rai and centers on the necessity of sex education. The film, which stars Pankaj Tripathi and Yami Gautam as lawyers, was released on August 11th.
