During the 1999 Kargil War, Pakistani soldiers are said to have taunted their Indian counterparts by saying that if India gives them Madhuri Dixit and Raveena Tandon, they will leave Kashmir. Nawaz Sharif was Pakistan’s Prime Minister at the time, and it’s been reported that during one of his visits to India, he mentioned Raveena as her favorite Bollywood actress.
As a response, Indian soldiers imprinted the words ‘From Raveena Tandon To Nawaz Sharif’ on some of the bombs used in the Kargil conflict, as well as a heart with an arrow piercing it. Every few years, images of these bombs are widely shared on social media. The actress from ‘Mohra’ has now spoken out about the situation.
Raveena discussed the incident in an interactive session on Twitter. She didn’t see it until much later, according to the actress. She also advised the entire world to negotiate anything with love and talk if it can be done. No one should be proud of any mother who loses their sons or daughters, she says, because people are dying on both sides of the border. The actress went on to say that if she has to stand guard at the border to protect her country, they should arm her with a gun and she would do so.
During the Kargil War, a few soldiers decided to send the Bollywood diva some bombs as gifts with her name on them, as she was said to be Nawaz Sharif’s favorite actress. Images of the bombs go viral on social media every few years. A large green bomb with the words “From Raveena Tandon To Nawaz Sharif” written on it is shown. There’s also an arrow piercing a massive heart made over the words.
Meanwhile, the National Film Award-winning actress made her OTT debut in December 2021 with the suspense thriller series Aranyak,’ which was released on the OTT platform Netflix. In the fictional town of Sironah, she played SHO Kasturi Dogra, who was tasked with solving a murder mystery. The series was praised for its excellent acting, screenplay, and suspenseful twists and turns. The web series’ producer, Sidharth Roy Kapur, has confirmed that a second season is in the works.
