Vidhu Vinod Chopra commences 2020 with his film “Shikara- The untold story of Kashmiri Pandits”. The film is based on the 1990 forced migration of the Kashmiri Pandits; which led to a communal war and migration of 4,00,000 Kashmir Pandits from their own land.

The trailer provides some extremely devastating visuals of the distress. The budding actors Adil Khan and Sadiya look adorable together. Their kosher adoration shall get one awestruck. Sadiya’s performance looks quite promising; so does Adil. They are portraying an exile affected Pandit couple. Their struggle to sustain for the past 30years in Kashmir, them living like refugees in their own country.
With the trailer one could apprehend that their plight is beyond imagination. Kashmir has always been the most sensitive part of the country. It’s not just about the past Kashmir but even its present situation is not that better. The film shall voice their quandary and educate the country about the Legitimate Kashmir.
The trailer consists of a petrifying scene where Sadiya removes her Bindi and covers her head while escaping from the terror active area. Their imploring for basic needs is quite disheartening.
“Shikara” must be an assured film to be watch for 2020.

In an attempt to step up its fight against the deadly Coronavirus, the Indian Railways agreed to shut down Mumbai’s lifeline— local trains— at midnight on 22 March for the next eight days. However, goods trains will be allowed to operate as usual to ensure the provision of essential services.

An official notification from the Indian Railways said, “In continuation of the measures taken in the wake of COVID-19, it has been decided that all passenger train services on Indian Railways, including premium trains, mail/express trains, passenger trains, suburban trains, Kolkata Metro rail, Konkan Railway, etc shall be canceled till midnight of March 31.” This includes the suburban network of Mumbai as well.

In addition, the notification notes that trains which had already begun their journey before 4 am 22 March will be permitted to reach their destinations.

Reasonable provisions will be made for passengers during travel and at their destinations as well. It also noted that the movement of goods trains will continue to ensure the delivery of critical services across the country.

In addition, for the convenience of travelers, the full refund of tickets for all canceled trains may be given until 21 June 2020. Adequate arrangements should be made to promote the hassle-free refund of passengers affected by train cancellations.

This is the first time in the history of Indian Railways that suburban local trains have been shut down completely for eight days. According to the Railway archives, “Earlier instances of closure and limitations include the 1896 plague in Bombay, the 1944 Bombay Dock Explosion, the 1974 railway strike and terror, and bomb attacks and monsoon interruptions. But never has the Railways been completely down. During the 1896 plaque and 1944 dock explosion, a similar exodus had happened.”

A world stalked by an eerie silence instantly came alive at 5 p.m. The sounds of clapping and tapping utensils rang out of residential neighborhoods, houses, and high-rise, enhancing the gloomy mood of Sunday.

Responding to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeals, people across the country came out of their homes and balconies, clapping, beating utensils and even ringing bells as a show of solidarity with health officials and emergency workers who have operated tirelessly in the wake of the Covid-19 outbreak.

Earlier, PM Modi rang a reminder to citizens. “Do remember, 5 PM this evening for 5 minutes… Be on your terraces, balconies or windows to express gratitude to all those who are working 24/7 so that our nation becomes free from COVID-19. #JantaCurfew,” he tweeted.

The Indians, who avoided venturing out — as Modi demanded in a TV address on Thursday— were fast to turn to social media. Videos and photographs of people, including kids, clapping and clapping utensils on their balconies and terraces began making rounds. Neha Dhupia has been buzzing the internet for last two days. Her recent episode of Roadies resulted in an outburst of memers who didn’t like the comments made by her in the show. There were countless memes and abusive words raining on social media platforms. Finally, the actress has broken her silence on the topic and released her statement. The official statement is as follows-

“Roadies is a show that I have been a part of for 5 years and enjoyed every bit of it. It takes me all over India and gives me the opportunity to team up with the absolute Rock stars from all parts of the country. What I do not like or accept what is happening for more than 2 weeks now! Recently during one of the episodes that aired, I took a stand against violence.
A guy talked about his partner who cheated on him (allegedly) and in retaliation, he hit her by his own admission. what the called did is a choice she made which is a moral choice regardless of someone men or women… adultery is a moral choice. Cheating is not something I stand for, and it is unfortunate that I have been misrepresented for the same. but what I do stand for is women’s safety.
Sadly, as a reaction to my opinion, I have been subjected to weeks of vitriol. One of my posts had over 56k comments! Yet I was silent but now people close to me who have nothing to do with this- my family, my friends, my co-workers, and even my dad’s personal WhatsApp are being flooded with abuses and harassment. My daughter’s page is nothing less than a barrage of abuses and this is not acceptable to me.
What a man or a woman does in a relationship it’s their choice and moral choices are always ambiguous. But no matter what they are, they can not lead to physical abuse. I stand by the fact that NO MATTER WHAT… Physical abuse or assault is not acceptable. Obviously, a man’s physical strength is a lot more than girls and gender-based violence against women is a huge problem in our country and across the world. I urge people, whether a man or woman, to educate themselves about domestic violence. If you’re a victim of abuse, please stand up for yourself. You are not alone.”
