The girl underwent a medical test and was released from a hospital of the state. The mother of the girl had lodged a complaint on Thursday night after the girl had told her what had happened when she returned from class.

DS Swami, Deputy Police Commissioner responsible for Zone XI, said, “We have registered a case of rape against the unidentified accused and further probe is on.”

On December 8, outside Kalyan Railway Station, Mumbai, a headless body of a woman was found in a bag. The body was found to have been sliced into three sections. Police reported that father Arvind Tiwari had killed his daughter Princy because he was against the wish of his daughter to marry a man from another community.

Arvind had kept the body in a suitcase, boarding an autorickshaw to dump it at an isolated spot. He left the bag in the car, however, and fled. Later, the driver of the autorickshaw filed a complaint against the uncle.

Police said they were looking at the CCTV footage at the railway stations of Titwala and Kalyan. They also said that Arvind took another person’s help to carry the bag to the autorickshaw from the station.

“Constable Sanjay Babar, during the investigation, got a tip-off of the location of the culprit. The crime branch raided Tiwari’s house at Saikrupa Chawl at Indiranagar in Titwala, but couldn’t find him. Arvind was later arrested from his office in Malad,” the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Deepak Deoraj said to media.

Narrating the case, a police officer said Arvind told the police that his daughter was working in the same building as her in a relationship with a man from another family. He strongly objected to the partnership when she told her father about her decision to marry this man. And she insisted on marrying the man of her choice.

The officer added, “Angered by her stubborn response, Tiwari said he first poisoned Princy and then pieced her body with a hacksaw-like blade and stuffed the chopped parts into a bag.”

Arvind carried out the murder of his daughter when his wife and three other children were out of town.

The ruling Shiv Sena in Maharashtra, who strongly advocated eco-conservation by canceling Aarey’s metro plan on ‘ concerns ‘ that trees are being removed, appears to have taken a turn as Aurangabad Municipal Corporation, which Sena governs, now wants to cut 1,000 trees down for a Bal Thackeray memorial in Priyadarshini Park.

According to the story, for a memorial of the party’s founder, the late Bal Thackeray, Shiv Sena-governed Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) is all set to cut nearly 1,000 trees. The AMC’s decision comes after Shiv Sena Chief and newly elected CM Uddhav Thackeray had stopped working on an Aarey Colony Metro car shed claiming the project would require many trees to be felled.

Priyadarshini Park is reportedly dense wood in the middle of Aurangabad, spanning 17 acres. It serves the city as a green lung and is used for walking, jogging and other recreational activities. The park is home to 70 species, 40 species of butterflies and various reptiles and small mammals, according to environmental activists.

Nevertheless, the Sena that has been running the AMC for the past 25 years now wants to build a memorial for Bala Thackeray by felling in Priyadarshini Park thousands of trees. There will also be an amphitheater, a museum, and a food court in the memorial. It is going to be built with a whopping Rs 61 crore cost.

“AMC’s affidavit in court is silent on the number of trees that needs to be cut for the project. It just says ‘minimum number’ of trees will be cut. In fact, in an advertisement published by AMC in a local newspaper, it had invited tenders for the cutting of 330 trees,” he added.
