Abhishek Bachchan and Kareena Kapoor made their Bollywood debut together in the 2000 film Refugee. However, the two never worked together after Abhishek broke up with Karisma Kapoor.
Abhishek Bachchan and Kareena Kapoor started their Bollywood journey together with the 2000 movie, Refugee. They went on to star together in Sooraj Barjatya’s Main Prem Ki Deewani Hoon (2003) and JP Dutta’s LOC Kargil (2003). But after Abhishek and Kareena’s elder sister Karisma Kapoor’s relationship ended in 2003, the two never featured in any film together. However, an older video of Kareena, which recently resurfaced on the internet, has her saying that for her Abhishek would always be special and she would always look at him with “joy and happiness”.
Kareena, during an interview with former-journalist Rajeev Masand in 2009, said that despite things going south between her sister Karisma and Abhishek, she will have a special place for Abhishek. She said, “I have always maintained that Abhishek is the first actor with whom I gave my first shot. To me, he holds a very special place in my heart that no actor and no person can ever take. When I look at him, I look at him with pride, joy and with happiness. It’s sad things went sour.”
However, Kareena also made it clear that just like Junior Bachchan, she too is not comfortable sharing the screen with him again. She continued, “If he chooses not to do a film with me, it’s vice versa because I understand the comfort levels will not be the same, likewise from my side as well. I think people should respect that.”
After Abhishek broke up with his longtime fiancee Karisma, he dated actor Aishwarya Rai and they married in 2007. Speaking if her equation with Aishwarya changed after her marriage to Abhishek, Kareena said, “There was never a problem with Aish. In fact she is lovely and whenever we have met she has always spoken to me, in fact she speaks highly of me, I have read so many interviews of her, why should there be a problem? ”
Kareena was last seen along with Aamir Khan in Laal Singh Chaddha. Next, she will be starring alongside Tabu and Kriti Sanon in Rhea Kapoor’s film The Crew.
